Only a wonderful community like Cooroy could have a magical Christmas event like Christmas in Cooroy where everything is free!

It doesn’t cost anything to go to Christmas in Cooroy and it also doesn’t cost you anything while you are there because pretty much everything is free!  That makes this festival stand out from all the rest thanks to the fantastic sponsors and the generous volunteers who help the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce put this event on every year for the last 15 years for our community!  You heard it – 15 Years of celebrations this year and the Christmas Elves have made it bigger and better than ever!

A run through the program on the website shows that there is a lot on offer to suit all ages and interests.

If musical entertainment appeals, you can catch the Coast Academy of Song and Dance at 4pm; Pineapple Crush at 6pm and Claptomaniacs playing through the evening – all on the Cooroy Supa IGA Main Stage in Apex Park.

At 4.30pm there is the awesome Bendigo Bank Street Parade with over 30 floats decorated to the theme of “A Moment in Time”, all vying for the chance to win Best Float and led by the Noosa District Pipe Band.

If dress up is your thing, then get your best Christmas outfit on and join the Bentleys Great Santa Stroll for the chance to win a $200 prize for best dressed.  Or if you’d like to just join in the stroll and help raise funds and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation, register at the Santa Stroll desk and get a free Santa costume to wear!

For some old-fashioned fun, join in the Cooroy Fish n Chips Santa Sack Races or the Giant Games like Giant Egg & Spoon Race, Jenga, Connect 4 and checkers sponsored by Eden Private Hospital.  Or grab a photo in the free photo booth sponsored by Fiducian Financial Services.

All the rides are free too!  There are Giant Rides including slide, jumping castle and tea cups sponsored by Cooroy Rag; mini 4WDs sponsored by Madill Motor Group; laser tag sponsored by Sunny Coast Accountants; and a baby animal farm sponsored by Cooroy Country Wear & Jeanery.    The free rides are popular so there are often lines but nobody minds waiting as The Leather Doctor has you covered with free popcorn to nibble while you wait.

There is also free face painting thanks to SPV Accounting and the Cooroy Legal Centre Foam Party with fluffy foam to play in – a great way to cool down!

If all of that free stuff isn’t enough for you, there is also the Belvedere News & Cooroy Computers East versus West Tug of War where businesses and residents from each side of the railway tracks battle it out with the big rope.  You can even join in if you get in and register early!

Santa even visits thanks to Gelignite Jacks and you can visit him in Santa’s grotto and even get a little treat while you tell him your most secret Christmas wishes.

To top off the night is the Cooroy RSL fireworks at 7.15pm with a colour explosion in the sky.  All safely monitored by the awesome team at KCs Fireworks with support from our local fire brigade and SES who do a great job of traffic control throughout the event also.

There are a couple of things you can spend your money on including some delicious food stalls, a few market stalls with novelties, a bar sponsored by Cooroy Hotel and the fantastic raffle sponsored by Mower & ATV Solutions and MTD Australia which helps fund this amazing free event.

This event is run by Cooroy Chamber of Commerce with support from the Rotary Club of Cooroy, a community grant from Noosa Council and sponsorship from the sponsors mentioned as well as Firefly Solutions, Studio Steel, Zinc 96.1 FM, Noosa Care Inc, the Shed Company, Palm Lake Resort, Aaction Traffic, Cooroy Family Practice, Wythes Real Estate, SPM Law, Sunshine Mitre 10, Live Life Pharmacy, Hinternoosa Real Estate and Cooroy Pest Control.
