Winners all round at Christmas in Cooroy!

There is no argument that everyone who attended Christmas in Cooroy was a winner. Thousands of people partook in the cornucopia of free Christmas activities and enjoyed perfect weather and the amazing community spirit that Cooroy is famous for.

One very excited winner was Wayne Pendergast who had the winning ticket in the raffle for the Toro mower.  He was very excited to pick it up last week from Dave Manktelow at Mower & ATV.  A joyful Christmas twist is that Wayne works at Studio Steel and helped to install the beautiful Cooroy Christmas tree which was switched on by Haylea Rose who is celebrating 5 years cancer free this year and is a big fan of Christmas in Cooroy.

The Leukaemia Foundation were winners too with over $700 raised via the Bentleys Great Santa Stroll.  It was a sight to see with about 30 Santa suit clad walkers cruising up the main street of Cooroy.

Spectators lined the street for the ever-popular Bendigo Bank Street Parade and the floats were of a spectacular standard again.  Thirty businesses and community groups participated and the “Past, Present, Future” theme was a big hit with young and old alike.  Wythes Real Estate took out the Best Float award with their 70s Flower Power inspired float but it was a close call with another year of tough competition according to judges Sandy Bolton, Marty Hunt and Tony Wellington.

The Shed at Cooroy East Side Traders team kept the title of best tuggers in the East versus West Tug of War!  The Cooroy Computers team of West Side Traders gave a valiant effort but are back to training for another year.

The free activities kept people entertained all evening with the free rides sponsored by Cooroy Rag & Madills Motor Group, a foam party sponsored by Cooroy Legal Centre, the SPV Accounting sponsored face painting, the Cooroy Fish & Chips Santa Sack Races, a visit from Santa sponsored by Gelignite Jacks, the fantastic entertainment program sponsored by Cooroy Supa IGA, free popcorn from The Leather Doctor and of course the spectacular fireworks display sponsored by Cooroy RSL.

If you missed out on this winning event, there is still time for you to win with the Cooroy Family Practice Shop Window Trail.  Just by voting for your favourite window before 21 December, you can win a $100Cooroy Supa IGA Voucher.  Entry forms are available in shops and at Cooroy IGA.
